Thread Details

I'm contemplating goign to Walmart for black Friday, but I was just wondering how do the Walmarts that are open 24 hours handle it? Do they close for a few hours and reopen at 5 am? Thanks Big Grin

At my Walmart, they rope stuff off. Mostly the aisles, and limit where you're able to go in the store.

So you would actually be able to walk around, spot the stuff you need, and wait near the rope. Soon as it hits time, jump across the rope and grab what you want.

Why is this "a joke?" If someone doesn't know, they can't ask? Some people are new to BF, or to SD. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I've never been to a 24-hour Walmart for BF before either and had the same question. I asked at the store, and the best information I got was that at 5am they will cut off the plastic for the deals that are stacked in the aisles.

At our 24 hour Walmart they had all the door busters out on pallets wrapped in black plastic (you could see through it so you could find out where you needed to be). Once 5am rolled around, they ripped the black plastic off and it was a free-for-all.

The people standing by the computers had been at WalMart since 6pm Thursday night.

No, but your mom sure is!

I was wondering the same thing about my local Wal-Mart. I would call them but I'm not very fluent in "redneck".

For me, I'm trying to decide if I want to be warm inside a 24-hour Walmart, but I figure there will be lines at each of the high-demand deals, in which case I'll get a shot at one deal, maybe two. Or, I can wait outside a non-24-hour walmart, in one giant line, and when the doors open, if I scope out where the items are ahead of time (and get incredibly lucky) I may be able to get the three or four items I'm really gunning for.

I've done the outside lines before at other stores (Target, BB), and I know they are a little easier for employees to manage (does Walmart try to manage their lines?) But I've heard the lines at the 24-hour stores described as "free-for-alls", and I'm not terribly interested in getting tackled because I grabbed something that someone else really wanted. Maybe it's not that bad... Just looking to have a fun time.

I've actually went to walmart at 7 am, didn't stand in one line, and still got all the stuff I needed on the BF ad. I've even been there at 10am and still seen tv's being carted out.

He's saying it's a joke because it's been asked many times already. It seems almost everyday there's a new thread asking the same question.

That kind of response would have been a little more helpful than what he did say. Like me, some people are new, haven't been perusing these threads as much as others, and may not be as skilled with the search function as it may be easier to just post a question they aren't aware already exists.

It's also easier to just click on the threads you are interested in seeing the answer to or helping provide an answer to. There are tons of threads I have no interest in whatsoever, but I'm not the thread police (and unless someone is a mod, they're not either) so I leave those threads alone and move on to those I'm interested in. A sarcastic comment in a thread you already know exists, just for the sake of being sarcastic, is a waste of everyone's time.

The thread is a joke because there are at least two Wal-Mart threads on this very forum, where this question has been asked and answered countless times.

And this is why you get sarcastic answers. The people who read this board and try to provide information get very frustrated with people who "don't peruse these threads" and who don't take time to get "skilled" with the search function. If you would have taken all of 30 seconds to scan the thread titles looking for "Wal-Mart" then you would have very easily found the info you were looking for, and probably a whole lot more - and wouldn't even had to use the search function at all.

I didn't start the thread. And I did peruse the thread titles and found this one, why would I search FIRST when I peruse them and find this?

Why is it your job to police the threads? Just click on the threads you are interested in.
