This is one of the best shavers in the market. It also comes with the HydraClean II system. This shaver is Made in Japan. Typically, Panasonic "Made in Japan" shavers are significantly better than other shavers made elsewhere.

i was debating that one too, do you know what is the difference between the two? so far i don't see anything besides the style/color.

Based on my limited research, it appears that the 8228 is simply a newer model of essentially the same shaver with the 8109 being a few years older...but that's based on the dates on reviews and such. There is so little info on this at panasonic's website. The SRP is higher too, so I'm basically taking a $2 gamble. It does appear that both shavers use identical replacement blades and foils.
