RANGE REPORT: Shooting off hand at silhouette targets about a good 15 yards away, I managed a 5 inch group, which is fantastic (for me). The sights were dead on to point of aim at both 7 yards and 15 yards. I would suggest getting some orange paint or neon nail polish to touch up the sights though , THERE'RE TINY! There was a small break in period of about 100 rds where I would get a few stovepipes but after that smooth sailing with everything I put in it. Used Corbon JHP's Glaser POW'r Ball JHP's , WWB FMJ's and Fiocchi FMJ's all with no issues after 100rds or so. This gun has noticably lower recoil than the Kel-Tec p3at with the ammo I tested (not sure if it's in my head), was 100% reliable with some of the trickiest .380 ammo out there, and super accurate above all else. I cannot recommend it highly enough, the bar has just been raised out of sight. |

My LCP is still pre recall and I agree that it is important to use the best ammo for a self defense pistol, not old left-over military ball ammo. I reloaded my own and went out and tested the new LCP last week, Not a single jam or misfire using 85 grain jacketed hollow points and 4.0 grains of Unique powder. The load is almost equal to a Cor-Bon load while still costing me under 10 cents a round to shoot.

I can buy UMC Remington for roughly that price when DSG (Dick's Sporting Goods) is running a sale. Gotta buy 500 thugh to mak ethe 10 box price. No shipping but I do have to pay tax.
As said, his ammo has been stored for about 17 years and is most likely military surplus. No indication as how it;s been stored. Good enough for practicing maybe but in my view not for use as self defense ammo. Remember, the loudest sound in the world is a click when you are expecting bang. I use cheap ammo for general practice but the quality stuff for carry as my life may depend on it. . |

IMHO, these are prolly the best you can get for defense use: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproduct...mid=574860 http://www.midwayusa.com/eproduct...mid=352263 |

Also, my local grocery/general store had Winchester 95 gr FMJ .380 ACP on clearance the other day for $9 per 50 rds., which comes out to $45 + tax for 250 rounds. I bought all they had b/c I know and trust Winchester ammo and knew it was a heck of a deal. Echoing what was said above, .380 ACP is the same as 9 x 17 mm or 9 mm Kurz (which means "short" in German). What Americans refer to as "9 mm" is actually 9 x 19 mm, or 9 mm NATO, 9 mm Luger, 9 mm parabellum, etc. |
