This is a Sony. I love Sony audio equipment, but their cameras take the Memory Stick memory cards and most everything else out there takes SD type cards. The cost per gig is usually much higher and you can only use them, for the most part, in Sony equipment. For this reason alone, I would not buy a Sony Camera. That said, this is still a good deal, especially if you are already committed to the Memory Sticks but be aware of this added cost and incompatibility with most other equipment.

Remember the BetaMax* ? Well I guess I could say that about VHS, but you get the point.

*Wikipedia= is an obsolete home videocassette tape recording format developed by Sony (for the young'ns in the crowd)

The prices are SLIGHTLY higher that SD. True, it is essentially good for Sony products only but thanks to the PSP the larger capacity cards are no longer twice the price of SD.

My only suggestion is to beware of knock offs(same rule for SD cards). I have a business which relies on digital photos. Some employees prefer Sony while others despise them. My employees take between 100-250 pics per day & never even get close to the 2 Gb card capacity. Unless you plan on using this camera (or any for that matter) to record video then you will need a large card(and get the fastest read/write speed you can afford)...

BTW, we use (3) of these cameras on the road & we have been very happy... & they were all refurb's....
