I have a PC (@ my bedroom), PS3, & XBOX in the living room but i wasn't satisfied with both PS3 and XBOX as I have to do the decoding in my PC and stream it over to either PS3 and XBOX. My PC is old, and it is an athlon x2 (2.2Ghz) and it has trouble decoding MKV and MKV-HD (choppy), even i have used coreAVC with PS3 media server. To upgrade to a quad core, it's going to be a huge cost. I decided to buy this unit instead and I am very happy about it. The selling point of this unit was the MKV playability, it plays MKV-HD fine and dandy. MKV-HD is pretty small and efficient, compared to MP4 and other formats. You'll need to have a good HTPC (at least dual core) in order to play MKV-HD. There are also some other weird format that this unit can play, such as DVD ISO (I was surprised).

Also, this unit is very small and it has a small footprint compared to HTPC, xbox, etc.
The only downside of this unit, it doesn't have ethernet connection.
