Auction sites besides eBay?

statx 13 February 26, 2009 at 03:51 PM
I'm looking for reputable auction sites besides ebay, i've googled it but all I find is peoples referral links for random auction sites that look iffy at best. Thanks

It also depends on what you're looking for. I buy a lot of my books now on AbeBooks.com or Amazon Marketplace. It's as cheap or cheaper than ebay and more reliable.

Nothing with quite as much of a selection and stuff as eBay, though I hope one day a good competitor will come along and change that.

The way eBay and Paypal operate, it's almost like a Monopoly. It sucks.

my votes go to shopgoodwill (which has no bad sellers) and overstock auctions.

down with the evil empire!

I've been thinking of trying out ioffer.com. No listing fees.

Ebay still has a basic Monopoly on the Online Auction World. Many sites have tried and are still trying, but have failed. The problem is when you list an item on ebay there are millions of possible buyers, when you list it on any other site the number of buyers is very limited. So the buyers don't have as many choices to buy from and the seller's can't get the price they want because there are not enough buyers.
As for just selling stuff, without the auction style. I like Amazon and even Craigslist.

Ebay owns a share of CL too. Business is kind of down at Ebay these days, in part because of CL.
