The main difference between the 2 cameras is that SD770IS has a 2.5" LCD (3" on SD790IS) and is about 1 oz lighter.

I just bought this camera for $179.99 last week. I like it a lot. The interface is friendly and intuitive, the facial tracking feature is neat, and it takes really nice pictures. If you're looking for a decent point and shoot, I can't see how you'd be upset with this.

Have had the casio exilim and actually replaced it with this one. the casio is a nice camera with a decent feel and features but the picture quality is dramatically poorer than the canon.

Also bought it at 179. Seems like its back in stock now... Grab one while you can!

the difference mainly lies in the 770IS has a 2.5" screen and viewfinder while the 790IS has a 3in screen minus the viewfinder. The choice is purely on personal taste, although i prefer having larger screenspace.
