Although I thought I was getting more time out it with destinator than Navigon if that's possible.

Don't most units use the ding when they don't tell you what street to turn on? My gf's older Magellan Maestro 3100 would ding, but didnt have TTS.

Not just any USB charger, but one that supports 2A. The DC charger indicates the output to be 5V @ 2A.

I tried the Navigon 7 on this Omnitech puppy. It's way better than the maps software in my original Navigon 2100T. The POI search is much faster. Will I be able to use the Navigon 2008_Q3 files to update my Navigon 2100T GPS? If so, how?

I took mine apart. And yes, there are NO identification numbers of any sort to indicate the voltage or capacity of the battery inside. It seems like it's a flat lithium ion pack (no discrete cells joined together), so I thought I could perhaps use a higher capacity cordless phone replacement (despite those typically being NiMH). However, my multimeter showed 5+ volts coming out of the thing, vs the 3.7V that most phone packs output.

At that point I just let it be, since I don't plan on using it too much outside of the car.

I think, in the discussion earlier in the thread, it was determined that USB is capable of charging the unit, despite having only 500mA of power at 5V. It may charge quicker if the unit is off though. 1.2A is probably the peak power usage and the 2A of the car charger is probably there to give it the ability to both run the unit and charge it, regardless of how much power it needs (gives it a conservative margin to do both).
