The gun rights thing wasn't directed just at you, and was not directed at any of your arguments in particular. It also wasn't meant literally-I meant that people (not just you, I read the other posts but didn't feel like replying) were reacting to my post as if people were attacking their gun rights. So basically I was saying you can chill out, nobody's attacking your rights and I was just explaining why in response to someone's post about why other people were posting that they didn't want the deals here.

As for what I meant about the price, it has nothing to do with sticking by my guns or not-nicheness is defined both by price and by subject. Like, a ferrari deal where it's $20,000 off of it's $250,000 MSRP is a niche deal, because most people cannot afford a $230,000 car. But a ferrari deal where it's $230,000 off and now it only costs $20,000 is not a niche deal-it'd be a very slick deal. Thus, the slickness of a deal changes whether it's niche or not, which was my point.

So what I was saying is that a slight discount on stuff that doesn't make the deal a slickdeal is more of a niche-type deal that would appeal more to people already out looking to buy something like that. But if the price dropped a ton it'd be such a slick deal that it would no longer be a niche deal. Seriously, it's not that hard to understand. A lot more people would be interested in stuff if it was cheap enough. You and I probably wouldn't go buy a 100" plasma TVs, so if people posted deals on them for 15% off it wouldn't interest you, and you'd probably prefer they post it on a videophile forum. But if that plasma TV was suddenly $300 I know I'd definitely become very interested and I'm pretty sure so would you. That's what I meant by the price thing.

OK, I will play along with your explanation about gun rights. Whatever. I won't play along with your explanation of the "niche" deal. These go for at least $600 locally, if not more. The OP's deal is about a 18% savings. That's real savings. Nothing "niche" about it.

18% off would be a horrible deal on almost everything else posted on SD! If we posted everything that was 18% cheaper than at a local store you'd have to post pretty much every item on amazon.com.
