I own ( or should i say have owned since i sold it 2 days ago ) this same set. Had it for about 3 months, new from Dell. I jumped on the 46" Sony deal just last week and sold my Vizio.
Reason for the sale? I am in no way bashing Vizio, the TV is Awesome and Vizio makes very nice TVs! but after looking around at other sets ( at BB and friends houses ) the picture "TO ME" didnt seem all that bright. I jumped on the 120hz trend because i thought it was the NEW THING, but honestly it wasnt nothing special. I don't watch sports all that much and i watch blu-ray from time to time ( and from what i hear this is where 120hz takes full advantage ) It has some options like smooth motion, etc, etc that i believe is for the 120hz, When enabled 80% of the time it made the picture skip and jumpy ( when NOT watching fast paced sports or bluray ) Using it on Basic cable, it was always skipping. I personally did not see what the hype was about for 120hz. But when i watched bluray and had the Smooth Motion option on, everyone would comment on how REAL the picture looked. Some would say, well turn off the features when NOT watching bluray or sports......But honestly, who wants to be sorting thru menus and options before a game or a movie? Its a pain! As for the picture, my living room is dark, and i had the backlight set to 100 ( not the brightness ) and the picture never really seemed crystal clear bright to me. I was at a friends who had a Sony and his living room had sun just blinding thru the windows and the picture was just so crisp, clear and bright and looked so nice ( 60hz set ) I have HD cable and a BluRay player, so i did take full advantage of the set, but i dont know, it just wasnt there for me? As i said though, this is "ME" and it was a awesome TV and looks very nice ( at times, depending on the programming and what source is being used ) It is a great price also. Best way i can describe it would be a THIN THIN layer or grey smoke covering the screen, ( another example would be when you hear a clear sound or music coming from speakers, but then you put a thin blanket over the speakers, though it still sounds good, it has that "covered sound" so to speak ) The only time the picture ever had that Bright, Crisp look to it was when i had a animated/carton playing in HD/Digital. But i would say that if you plan on using this set in a Bright room, its not for you or if you do not have a HD source or BluRay, this set is NOT for you. The only other negative was the remote....HORRIBLE remote!!! But for those who never experienced 120hz and are just going on what they HEAR, do yourself a favor and check a 120hz set out, because you may be jumping on the band wagon for something you dont even need or notice. Repped for a good price though! Last edited by maf2k8; 04-26-2009 at 01:31 AM.. |
