This is a nice deal. Even with the 20% Live.com cashback, I just paid $135 more for a similarly-spec'd HP dv4t. The HP does have a Core 2 Duo P7450 with about an 80% higher PassMark score, but both processors are low-power - 25W - so good battery life and less heat. This notebook even has Gigabit Ethernet, which the dv4t does not. This Acer also has better integrated graphics (nVidia 9100M G vs. Intel 4500MHD).

The Acer can be had elsewhere for $499, and even that's a good deal. I still trust HP and Intel a bit more than Acer and AMD, but that's a darn fine price for a 14.1" laptop. I might have gone with this if I'd waited a week.

When I saw SPDIF support, I almost had a heart attack. I've been looking for this for a very long time on a good priced laptop. However, on all of the pictures I have not seen any spdif port???

edit: wait, is it just coax spdif? My DAC has support for coax as well but I thought only optical was named SPDIF. anyone know if that orange port on the side is for the coax?

It's a headphone jack that supports spdif. So I think you need a special headphone to spdif jack cable or something. My understanding is that they have different diameters.

How does this CPU perform with Adobe software.
I need some processing juice, not sure if I'm getting it with this Athlon X2.

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger, but the 14" screen is holding me back. It's going to be mostly for home (not travel), so a bigger screen size would be nice. Don't need one right away and am waiting for a killer deal.
