Unfortunately, I heard that "refurbished" means that the product is broken (and sold to you that way) and you're expected to fix it on your own. It may sound cheap at first but if that's true then it's a waste as I'm sure it's expensive to fix these things. And I'm not electronics-savvy.

To semi save this deal. Here is the same lens refurbished from Adorama for $299. Still cheaper than you can get this lens on the used market.

I bought this lens 4-5 years ago, new for about $320. It was one of the 1st lenses I bought. I just looked it up and couldn't believe it. For a new one, B&H has it at $400. WOW. It's an unbelievable lens though. My favorite walk-around lens. People say get the 50mm f1.8 as the starter lens. I say forget it, save up and get this. For another $100, you can get a brand new one. You won't regret it. It's a keeper for years for me.
