Canon 50m f/1.8 $87.18 - $91.17

Please be easy on me. First deal I'm posting.

This is for the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 Lens

This lens was around this price at Christmas, but has since jumped a lot. Right now, I'm seeing it for $91.77 at Amazon.com. However, it's also showing up in my Gold Box deals for the 87.18 price. I already have it, and it's a great lens.
Elsewhere, this lens is in the $115-$120 price range.

It's much better than the kit lens, especially in low light however it's a prime lens - you're stuck at one focal length the whole time. It's perfect for shooting indoors or for portraits. I wouldn't use it as a walk around lens. Also Amazon has had this lens on sale several times in the past year - for as low as $75 including free shipping. I picked one up when it was around $85 with a free tiffen filter. I'd say this is a mediocre deal.

correct me if i am wrong but from what i understand the kit comes with a 18-55mm lens, this lens is a 50mm prime lens. it has no zooming ability, the trade off is that you have an aperture of 1.8 which lets a lot more light in, perfect for low light situations. the 1.8 aperture would allow shooting photos at a lower iso producing images with way less noise.
