I will go out on a limb here and say that it's because the components are >25 feet & <50 feet away from one another....then again I could be wrong

If you know your length, buy the exact length. Any extra will only make the signal worse.

Save yourselves some hassle and stick with the higher gauge HDMI cables from monoprice. I used THIS 75' [monoprice.com]for two long runs from my HT closet to the downstairs plasmas with no repeaters and both carry 1080p without any "degradation". Also used this matrix switcher [monoprice.com] to have access to ALL HD devices from both sets
