Great price for a nice router after upgrading firmware with DD-WRT. See past threads on this router for info on upgrading to external antennas that will help with range and strength.

I have two of these. One has been rock-solid for at least 6 months. The other was used intermittently as a wireless repeater bridge. The secondary router worked great for a while, but has been having problems recently.
Note that some of these come with marginal or faulty power adapters that make the router appear to be bad. This will affect your router whether you run the orignal firmware or dd-wrt. Here's a link to the dd-wrt page that discusses it: dd-wrt install instructions for wnr834bv2 [dd-wrt.com]. Look under the "Faulty Power Supply" section. There's also a link to a replacement power supply you can order from an independent company, but for me it would've cost $14 with shipping. The router can work with power supplies from other devices so you might already have one that will work, as mentioned in the link. I got in on the wndr3300 dual-band N router deal a few days ago, else I would order another one of these. |

i got in on the asus 520gu deal (running the tomato with usb support). My question is, if I get this one and throw DDWRT on it, can I hook the ASUS up as a wireless bridge to connect one to the other?

I dont have any experience with tomato so I cant say either way. I have used dd-wrt to do that and it works like a champ but not sure about Tomato. Hopefully someone else with experience with both can answer your question.

It's not that hard to do. There is a DD-WRT page shows which settings need to be configured, and tomato has pretty much similar settings, just find those settings and change them. It may take you few tries, but once u have it done, just save the configuration file and you are set. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index....ess_Bridge |
