If your account is closed at the time we review your account to determine whether you have met the terms and conditions of the offer, you are not eligible for the offer.
meh.. you have to report it as income, as BOA will send it as one to the IRS. Kind of a PITA to remember to include it in your filings.
These bank deals/free money are obviously not for you then. All these freebies the bank give out in terms of cash are considered income. And you remember to pay that tax due to the fact that they send you a W2 for that income. Fairly simple process actually...
If you're like me and don't keep a balance in your checking account - this $100 bonus will be gone in a few months with the 8.95 monthly fees.
They upped the minimum needed to avoid the monthly fee from $1000 to $1500 in June. I got hit by a monthly fee in July because of the change --- of course they didn't bother to tell anyone. I was really unhappy, emailed & called but both times the CSRs claimed it was *always* a $1500 minimum. When I asked why I hadn't been charged fees the previous months, they started making up possibilities. I don't have direct deposit because I lost my job. At my branch, some tellers still thought it was $1000 minimum, but someone in the know said it was changed in June to $1500. BTW, if you are keeping the minimum to avoid monthly fees, the CSRs can put in some codes to completely waive the fee for 3 months or maybe longer. The tele CSR told me she would waive the monthly fee for the next 3 months since I lost my job, but she didn't reverse the fee already charged until I started getting more and more unhappy on the phone. Anyway, after the fee was credited back, I closed my account and now use the Chase Free Checking account.
