thats cool... but i only watch tbs/comedy central/discovery and a couple of local channels that oddly i couldn't even get if i had an antenna (neighbors tried it)... good deal if you are in to the family line up though

it includes a lot of News, and stuff like the food network...really no good network channels like ESPN or TBS or anything like that...not really worth it in my opinion for the little selection..unless your someone who loves like cnn fox news food network stuff like that...sports, or comedy/sitcom people this isnt for you ive had this package before

I would assume that this needs YMMV in the title. That is based on my own experience within the last few weeks...

I called to ask about canceling once and talked with a rep who transferred me to a cancellation rep. All they offered me was to remove channels from my package, remove the insurance, etc. At the time I told them I was just curious about the cancellation process, and hung up. A week later I decided that I didn't need to pay that bill anymore (I have comcast for internet and I can get basic cable for free if I connect the TVs). So, I called back, and still got no better offers to keep me as a customer. The told me that they'd send boxes for the equipment, and my service ends tomorrow...

But you know, I doubt I'll really miss them that much... Good luck to everyone else calling in to cancel. I'll call to see where my return shipment boxes are to see if they will make me any other offers. If I get good news, I'll post an update.

So I'm assuming this doesn't include any HD programming correct? I have Dish Network and can't live without HD anymore. I know it costs a premium, but it's worth it in my opinion.

With that Family Plan I don't think you can add HD if I remember correctly. I would spend a little more and get a package that you can add HD to. I guess this is a good deal if you just want to watch basics like news and such and don't need good image quality.

I agree that HD is a must for me anyways. I have all the movie channels and have a ton of HD movies saved on my external drive.

May be a dumb question, but by "Back of the box", do you mean that you plugged the antenna behind the STB(Dish DVR-Dish Receiver) or behind the TV ?

I have just Hindi Elite Package without any contract and want the Local Channels, I recently ordered free from Meritline alongwith the Digital Receiver with coupon.

If it wasn't for my auto-racing affliction that requires about five different non-OTA channels AND the unavailability of a simple way to record OTA HD programming I'd probably live just fine with free OTA. Maybe someday. Cheers.

Can you tell me more about the $5 antenna you bought that gives you local channels cause that could save me the extra $5 a month that I pay for my local channels.

I followed up on those boxes. They are a no go for discounting anything for me. So, I will be free from DishNetwork tomorrow night at midnight.

Anyone see any good TV deals from UVerse, Comcast or DirectTV??

Go here [antennaweb.org] to see what locals you will get with an antenna. You on can get a HD antenna for about $40 on Amazon.

A simple rabbit ear antenna will pull in over-the-air HD broadcasts just fine in most cases. You don't need to buy a special "HD" antenna.
