I feel these should also go into Wiki as it improves hte system performance tremendously. I did it in all my systems and friends systems at home and office..

For hardware changes, upgrade to a 1GB stick of ram instead of 512mb.

Click "tools", then "startup" on the left side and disable everything that you don't need loading up every time you boot into Windows. I have my startup menu completely empty.

Final tip for a speed boost, find "my computer" under the start menu, right click the my comptuer icon, choose properties, advanced, performance settings, then choose "adjust for best performance", leaving only "font smoothing" and "use drop shadows" checked. Hit apply, then ok, and reboot.

I agree, it is confusing with all the numbers but you are pretty safe going with 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 no matter the PC-XXXX speed. ( I know just enought to get in trouble). I believe it will just underclock as the stock RAM on this is something like PC3200 but it can't hurt getting what's cheapest. I got those 2X2GB (PC2 5300) newegg sticks I mentioned last page with 10% cashback. About $20 ea shipped.
