I've been struggling with this decision everytime there's a deal. GH has more compatibility, but the RB drums are more similar to a real drum set with their four heads.

Really awesome price on Rock Band 2 bundle. Anyone (360 or PS3) should also see if they can find a cheap copy of Rock Band 1 (game only). For $5, you can export almost all the songs from that game onto your hard drive, and have them available in Rock Band 2.

So, you'd have 84 on-disk songs from RB2, 20 free downloads on booklet inside of game, 5-6 free DL's they have put out at other times, and 55 (of the original 58) songs from RB1. That's a huge number of songs to get you started.

Plus Rock Band has over 600 DLC songs (most are $1.99 each or 160 pts, but if they are part of a pack or album, you can get them cheaper if you buy the whole pack/album at once).

If I didn't already have this game (and nearly 450 DL's myself), I'd be all over this deal!

Sure it is. The site's registered to Viacom. Viacom owns MTV Games, who owns Harmonix (who makes Rock Band), who sent out the notification of the site today via its official Twitter account (twitter.com/rockband). Viacom also owns MTVN Direct, who processes all the ecommerce for the site.

I'm curious on how the exporting works. Do you have to enter the DVD in once and that's it? Does anything stop you from borrowing a copy of Guitar Hero 1 from a friend and doing it that way? Can you do the same with Guitar Hero 2? With the AC/DC track album [rockbandstore.com], how does importing it to Rock Back work?

Just a little confused on how the tracks are saved and how DRM gets in the way of saving the tracks to the hard drive.
