HP Pavillion Laptop dv4 vs dv6 (Staples)
Hi Fellow SDers...my desktop crashed over a month ago (with all my kids pictures on it- ) and I have been searching for a laptop deal since. It seems like I am always too late to get in on the B&M/on-line deals.Anyway, I narrowed my search down to HP Pavillion dv4-1430US or dv6-1230US. My local Staples has both of these. From what I gather they have the same specs but here are the differerences I found: dv4 Moonlight White 14.1" WXGA 6-Cell Lithium-Ion battery 3 USB slots 5.08 lbs Price after Rebate: $549.99 vs. dv6 Espresso Black 15.6" 16:9 Widescreen 12-Cell battery 4 USB slots 6.34 lbs Price after Rebate: $599.99 They both have these common specs: 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6500 4GB RAM DDR2 320GB (5400 RPM?) SATA LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD R/RW with Double Layer Support Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD 5-in-1 Integrated Digital Media Reader No Bluetooth Webcam eSATA/USB port HDMI My questions: Are these good laptops for the $$? Which one is a better "deal"? There is only a $50 difference between the two. For $50 more, you get a larger screen & larger battery. Staples has the original price of the dv4 higher than the dv6. Why? That doesn't make sense to me. The dv4 gets higher reviews than the dv6. Do e-junkie on-line coupons work on laptops? This tech noob thanks you for your help! |

HP laptop
It is always good to buy a laptop with a smaller screen and so the weight is also reduced and more comfortable. The 6 cell battery should also be fine if you do not unplug your laptop that much frequently. i recommend DV4 but wait until after labor day, as there maybe better deals the weeks after. I bought a same kind but a 15inch for $399. Thanks Deal Junkie 909 |

i prefer the dv6 for the larger keyboard.. i just purchased a dvc6-1280US.. you should go to the store and see if you like the layout of the keyboards and which screen you like better.. and also how big of one you want to carry around.. some people like them as small and light as they can.. for me the dv6 is a good compromise of size and weight but still gives me a larger keyboard and a good widescreen
