It's that time again, Valve and Epic are bringing PC gamers another free 48 hours of UT3. Why? Who knows, they screwed up the launch of this game badly enough that they have to give it away for free. >_>

Preloading starts Thursday so you can play asap.

For those who don't have steam yet.

1. Install Steam
2. Make Account
3. http://store.steampowered.com/app/13210/ and click on "pre-load".
4. Download
5. Play on Friday.

This also means that we'll have a week long deal of UT3 @ 8.00
Happy... meh fragging?

Happy Decade UT! Now if only Epic wasn't a bunch of traitorous backstabbing asshats who sold out their fanbase this would be in better taste.

This free trial will allow you to play the game free for the weekend (not including Sunday afternoon/evening) ONLY on steam provided the Steam servers allow you to connect. The servers were overloaded Friday evening for a time and did not allow people to connect to the UT3 Steam server(s). To continue playing afterward the free weekend, you will need to buy the game. This is the 3rd or 4th time in about a year that Steam has offered a free UT3 weekend of play. So if you do not buy the game, just keep the cached copy on your hard drive until the next free weekend. If you need the hard drive space, save the cached files to a DVDR.

Steam sells the game for $19.99 normally but it is $8 for a limited time.

Note that you can buy the game retail cheap at places like gogamer, eBay, etc and put the cd key into steam to save some money when it is not on sale at Steam. Buying a non-Steam version of the game will allow you to play it even when Steam is overloaded and will allow you to play your other Steam games on one PC while UT3 can be played at the same time on another PC.

Oh this reminds me, if you buy it retail, you can activate it on steam by putting the cdkey on your steam account so you get the benefits of steam without paying the steam price.

Sorry this might be a nub question but here goes: Does this mean we have the game for free and can play whenever? Or does it only work Friday/this weekend?
