That's what I was wondering. I kind of see the point now. But, if the water line pipe was going to freeze over, it would have done it already in previous years. If it's never happened before, I doubt it'll happen now. Then again, there's always room for record freezings in your area.

For $0.98 each, I'll try a couple. I've bought more expensive useless crap because of this site that just sit around my house.

Well, the faucet is obviously attached to the inside. So some heat transfers from the inside of the house to the faucet outside. I guess this insulation may help to keep the faucet from losing that little heat and it "might" keep it from reaching freezing temperatures.

I might give it a shot. Bummer these things are beige, my house is white...

OnePenny, I think Charlotte has a mild enough winter that you shouldn't HAVE to get something to cover your external faucet. The thought is to keeep the cold outside. If an external faucet gets blasted by freezing winds all night/day that will eventually creep into the house and if there happens to be water in that copper/pvc pipe, it will only expand so much before it ruptures.

I was suprised by Eman3gt's comment, living in NY, I figured this would be on everyone's external faucets.
