I gave thumbs up and reps because of the good price, but this is not a good product. There's a reason they're being "dumped" for $100.

I got one of these from my local Fry's back in July for $141 with tax. The print quality is not good for a color laser. I tried even specialty color laser paper from HP, still not as good as a cheap ink jet.

I went to Fry's twice before I bought one and asked to see the image print quality, but they wouldn't turn it on for a demo. The printer department manager said they couldn't find the cartridges and installation software. I asked about returning it if I got it home and the quality wasn't adequate. I was told the cartridges cost more than the printer, so I couldn't bring it back if I expected a refund. I took a chance and bought one. Because the print quality is not good, it was a mistake.

For office/home color printing on plain copy paper requiring less quality than photos, it's "good." An advantage is you don't need to worry about ink cartridges drying out if you rarely print in color. So, to print occasionally in color for projects requiring less than photo quality, $100 is a good deal!

But if you want to print with more demanding quality like photos, and don't need to worry about ink drying out from lack of use, get an ink jet.

I guess this can be a GREAT deal if you already have one and want the toner. Then use the printer and shipping box to send to HP for their $50 rebate program.

So, on second thought, in for 1!

I can tell you about the CLP -300 (white outside) that I use frequently at home. It is the veteran of many science projects and other school work as well as the coupons from sites like slick deals. After a year of using it, it still works. It has a slight lag to print as most lasers too. It initially had a smell but by 50 copies that was gone. I bought additional cartridge at ink grabber when I got the printer . Probably has about 1000 pages printed so far with avg. 50 % coverage and as best I can tell it still has plenty of ink with oem cartridge. So I never got to use the generic cartridge. As a testament to my confidence in the clp-315 I bought 2 a minute ago by phone becuase I found the web site was backed up.

I have one and it is more reliable than my previous Konica Minolta 2400 color laser. The cartridges are available on Ebay for a very low price and are easy to put in. Refill kits are available. The only negative I have found so far is that it is slow to print the initial print job. We have a monotone laser Samsung 2510 (which is much faster) sitting next to it and try conserve by printing to the monotone mostly and we refill that toner cartridge with low cost toner from Ebay.

Wrong toner pack, yours is for the CLP-300, a completely different printer. I don't see anything comparable for the 315.

OP and anyone else: Have you gone to checkout, and gotten this for $99 (plus tax, of course)

I go to the OP's link, and it says $99 as it should. Then I put it in my basket and enter my zipcode, and it says $249 - $50 = $199.

I got all the way to entering my CC info, still $199!

What's up with that?


EDIT: Be sure it's the 315, NOT the 315-W (wireless) which is what I had by error. The correct CLP-315 IS $99!
