plasma tv question

anon_agentz 11 November 3, 2009 at 09:52 AM
I'm using a new 50" LG plasma as a PC monitor - when I browse any sites witha white background I hear a low humming noise coming from the TV. Anyone experience this? how do I fix it?

I don't know anything specific about plasma tv's, but it's probably something to do with how the tv displays colors. Maybe when its white, it's using up the most power? Usually noises are hard to fix unless its an easy to replace component.

Most likely that is why.

A plasma tv consumes more power when it's displaying mostly white. The noise you hear is probably from the power supply. Plasmas tend to be nosier than LCDs in general.

which one is the best plasma tv, will anyone say showing better comarison.Lg.......
High end Pioneer has best overall reviews. Seen them in stores, they look good, but not markedly better than Panasonics, imho.

Best price/value is Panasonic. I have two (42 and 50) and both blow away the 32 inch Samsung LCD I also have.

I have never hooked up a PC to either of my plasmas, nor have I ever heard strange noises coming from them. Is it the speaker? In regards to whites... I did have an old TV that would buzz when there was a lot of white on the screen.

I have heard plasmas buzz a lot displaying different things on the screen, older ones in particular. I have read that altitude plays a factor as well, but haven't been around one at high altitude to experience this.

Only time i can hear noise coming from my panny plasma is when i turn the volume down, can hear a slight whirl of the fans - its still pretty quiet though. I have heard a buzz on some models though, probably the power supply. Also, as far as I know Pioneer has stopped production on their plasma lineup.
