Not quite. You're paying tax on the full amount, so unless total tax is <$5 for you, amazon's price is better. Whether you prefer B&M for return ease, is a different matter. Either way, pretty good deal

There's also no UV filter for free... but considering Amazon is having problems keeping the telephoto lens in stock...

This seems to be a good deal. So even if you pay tax and then get a BCB back (not sure how much though), it sounds good. For example,

Total price = $699.99
Total price w/ tax (@ 8.75% in CA) = $761.23
BCB (assuming 5%) = ~$35
Total cost = ~$726 --> Still a good deal compared to others but this doesn't beat amazon's $643.71.

When i ordered from amazon it was $695 with tax. How are you coming up with $643?

like so - maybe you are located somewhere that you have to pay tax?

The prices changed yesterday mignight by the second and was having problems getting the UV filter for free.. so removed that as I can buy that later... wasn't gonna give up on the deal :-).

I ordered about 3 hours ago. I am working on the filter myself - I read in the other thread that someoone forgot the filter and wrote Amazon about it and they offered a $20 gift card? Trying to figure out how to do that.

I added the filter yesterdy and placed the order and it was for free BUT the estimated shipping was pushed to December. When I called Amazon (routed to Phillipines with a lot of background noise and a CS Rep that couldn't understand and kept on repeating the whole order again and again), the rep said that the filter is on back order for 4 weeks but when I looked at the filter on amazon's site, it was In Stock. The caveat was that since I was getting a FREE filter, it was out of stock but if I had paid $7.51 for it then it would ship in 2 weeks... All in all, I didn't want to miss on the $643 deal for a $7 UV filter. Let me know how your call goes with Amazon for $20 GC?
