It is slick because this does not require a power adapter and it's 2.5". Compared to other 500gb HDD's which are at $89.99 at most stores.

uhh yeah it is. this is usb powered 2.5" drive, ultra quiet, and does 50 megabytes per second (as opposed to my 1tb WD green in an vantec enclosure doing a measly 30 megabytes per second).

this thing is fantastic for being able to have a ton of your files on hand wherever you go and not have to lug around a huge power converter or a huge harddrive while having all the exact SAME benefits of speed and storage space

Dell has this same deal fairly often, but it regardless is a slick deal, since I don't see the same price elsewhere. The drive enclosure is amazingly small (barely larger than a deck of cards), and I keep a few stacked with my WDTV to store my movies and TV series. If I need to switch a drive, I just move the same USB cable from one drive to the next. Much more convenient than storing it on a larger unit that requires a power adapter.
