Outdated drive that won't get any update (official word from LITE-ON) and won't play newer/recent Blu-ray disc!!!! It can't play some movies, like Transformers and Jumper based on some reviews!!!
All of the above information is misinformation.
For a PC the updates necessary to play new Blu-ray releases are player software updates. The firmware is fine. The confusion over which update is necessary is due to firmware updates being required by standalone Blu-ray players (which have new keys stored on the firmware). For a PC the key/decryption information is stored on the software. 
I confirm that this works on my computer. Playing transformer w/o a hiccup

wow..thank God for the PS3. Prices have really collapsed on Blu Ray players since it's price drop. Long live Capitalism.
