I needed to get rid of the haze on my headlights and read reviews that the 3M headlight restoration kit is the better one since you use your household drill which would gets better results than using your hands. This was the cheapest I can find anywhere.

The yellow haze that you are removing with this and other kits is what's left of the UV sealant the manufacturer applied to the plastic headlights during manufacturing.

When you remove it, you are exposing the bare plastic to the elements. It will cause your headlights to age faster and force you to continue to use the restoring kits to clean off more of the haze that forms due to sun exposure.

If you are comfortable with this then this product is for you.

I'm waiting until they include a sealant that will negate having to consistently use this product over and over again to achieve the desired results (revised - check addition below).

Remember to apply some sort of sealant afterwards.

*p.s. I just did this, but I used three different polishing compounds and applied a sheet of xpel (purchased from a local shop) once I was sure I removed all the compound residue. You can use this kit or a powerball from mothers. Hopefully I will never have to do it again. Lots of work and it's not as cheap as these kits, but it works really well. I made sure the surface was extremely smooth when done and there were few imperfections other than the large dings. Saved a ton of money. Headlight enclosures for my car are about $375 each plus tax. I spent a total of $30 for the Xpel sheets. I owned everything else.

This fix should be permanent. Very happy at the moment.

WIth headlights for my wife's G35 being $400+ this is a very cheap alternative to new headlights. They were like new when I was finished.

I did a 2001 Jetta this summer, and it took off the yellow residue, and now looks clear as new. We did make a few minor scratches that are only visible from up colse, but even from 4 feet away, this looks like brand new. Excellent price on this as well.

If you have an old car with yellowed/hazy headlights you should definitely use this. It, unlike compounds, actually removes those layers via sanding with progressively finer sandpaper. It restores your headlights to new condition and is much cheaper than buying a new headlight assembly. Since you have sanded the yellow/hazed part out, your headlights will take just as long to turn yellow/hazy as it did when it was new (since you now have "new" plastic).

The difference is honestly amazing. I would jump on this, but I didn't know how well it would work when I bought it the first time and I already have an extra.

One pack works for two lights.

Good deal. Just for those who may need something like this and not want to sand down their headlights, Meguiar's makes a compound called PlastX that does a good job without the sanding. It worked wonders on my 10 year old car's cloudy headlights. (They also make a kit that comes with a buffing cloth that attaches to a drill)

I'm sure it's not better than this 3M kit, but it may be a better solution for those whose headlights are not in seriously bad shape.

I use toothpaste. The guys on the TV show 'Trucks' did a special and found it works as well as the high dollar compounds. The grittier the better! Just rub it in like wax and buff it out with a clean cotton cloth. I imagine a buffer wheel would work too.
