When you are in the process of entering the code it will tell you if you had a previous balance. I had $11 balance- it went up to $14. No problems here.

Check your balance first and be careful! I know I had about ~$10 in MP3 credit previously, and after I entered the MP34FREE code, it wiped that out and now I only have the $3, not the ~$13 I should have had. I don't know if this was a glitch that happened only to me, but just a heads up! Make $1 when you buy a $5 album like the Black Eyed Peas "The END" album. I first tried the OPs link to add the $3 to my account. Then I went on to buy the BEP The END album for $5. I paid $2 coz of the $3 credit. But then I got another email after I bought the album saying I just got $3 credit for buying a $5 album. I went ahead and added the redeem code they gave me and yey it's there! So I ended up making $1 on this deal. WOW! - added by coolambo on 11/23 6:34am PT

BE WARY! I had 60$ left on my $100 promo code from the Xbox 360 Lightning deal. After purchasing 3 songs I then had 57$ left on my store-wide code, and 60$ left at Amazon-MP3. It ate up my store-wide code before the MP3 code! Update: however after sending an email to customer support they refunded the purchase. Amazon.com has always been so honest with me. ~Demn

USE BEFORE THE LAST DAY! I had about $9 of mp3 credits left a few weeks ago, and on the last day that $3 worth of them were going to expire, I went and bought a $10 album. Specifically, at the checkout screen it said my card would be charged $0.98 after deducting the credits, and I immediately downloaded the mp3s. I didn't get the confirmation email until about 24 hours later though, and they charged my card for $3.99, as if part of my credits had expired EVEN THOUGH I ORDERED THE DAY BEFORE THEY EXPIRED AND THE CONFIRMATION SAID I'D BE CHARGED $0.98. To top it off, it was the first time ever that Amazon customer service ignored me. I didn't get a reply to my complaint at all. I'm never letting mp3 credits affect my decision for anything again. It's only $3 loss so I didn't want to take the time to dispute the charges, etc.


A good way to use the credit is to search for really long .99 songs. Stick in a common word (version, long, full, extended, mix, etc) and sort the results by time.
