Just FYI, FFXI:WotG is an expansion to the FFXI MMO. You have to already have the original FFXI game to play this, and you also have to pay a monthly fee.

I just bought it with this deal for $8. I was asking the same question, so I read reviews and opinions on it, and a lot of people do think it's terrible but quite a few actually enjoyed it. The consensus seems to be that it's pretty decent for cooperative play, and I'm looking for games for cooperative play, so I went ahead and bought it.

However, if I were looking for a single player game, I don't think I'd have spent the $8 on it. It looks like, from what people say, that single player is maybe worth $3 - $5. But then, the difference between that and $8 isn't a lot (and $8 isn't a lot to begin with). Consider that shipping alone probably costs $3-4.

Your decision. Just don't expect a great game. You can't be too disappointed for $8.

As an added bit of info, supposedly the game's makers put pressure on gamespot and got one of their critics fired for giving the game a terrible review.

Also, for anyone considering buying this game for their children, be aware that this game supposedly drops the F word in every sentence, so I wouldn't buy it for them if that bothers you.
