ne1 knows how these compared 2 energy take 5.1? newegg has jacked the take 5.0 price back up to $150...which is still half off from these...well toss in a sub...probably come out the same...

This is a good deal in terms of discount vs. regular price. I'm guessing they sound similiar to the Energys but I don't know for sure. My belief has always been that satellites can only sound good to a certain extent.

depending on the rest of your equipment these will basically sound "the same". paradigms have a different hue to their sound than the Energy's do, but at this size you won't care. I've got Paradigm Reference Studio's for my main theater system and an original set of the Energy Take 5's for my bedroom.

My advice to you is to go with whichever will be cheapest for the speakers+sub combination, both sound great for their cost/size. (both will need a sub to fill out the low end, and if you have neighbors that will complain you don't need to get one that is flat to 20hz, flat to 40hz will be enough to fill these out and not annoy the neighbors any more than larger speakers)

I bought both sets this one ($299) and the energy 5.1 set (without subwoofer-$120). The energy set(very impressed) is very comparable to this more expensive ct70 one. Many people would disagree (as I even do) that the ct70 is expensive compared to some of the others being sold out there (lots of money!). Both are great - I love the center speaker on the energy and I guess on this one also (it was just the energy was so much cheaper - see previous sale threads at newegg). I am disappointed in the subwoofer of the ct70 set - maybe because I just have not tried it out enough or wanted to play it that loud. The ct70 seems to be built for bigger sound envirnonment then the energy set - but I live in a townhome with a neighbor wall. I honestly have not found a essential need for the subwoofer, yet. So, as above said, and I say - It is not essential. I play both music dvds and blu-rays - blu-ray star trek trailer seems to be getting played over and over for some reason, it's a good test

Would I recommend the ct70 over the energy (NO!); but if you have requirements and do not mind the extra $170 then buy it. Oh, for both sets, I combine older (but very good two speakers ) with each set and I like the results. I am using a Pioneer 1019 and Denon 790 receivers with each and have tried both sets out with each system. Each of these receivers can automatic set sound systems requirements/input.

Is there a good site that compares home theater speakers -- energy, paradigms, klipsch, polk, cambridge soundworks, mirage, definitive technology, bose etc. I am looking to buy a set of 7.1 speakers. (I have owned Polk satellites before and was somewhat happy with them).

some dude was selling me this exact set with a receiver (black) at a Home Depot Lot for 200. Had never heard of that brand and I saw the box and laughed when I saw that it didn't even have any hdmi inputs. Supposedly it retailed at 4K (he showed me some magazine where it had that price).
