Discovery version:
Sigourney Weaver narrates and about 8 minutes are trimmed from each episode so that it fit into US TV timeslots (commercials, etc - also cut out some of the more violent parts I believe)

BBC version:
David Attenborough narrates

I rented the BBC version on HD-DVD from Netflix and later bought the Discovery version on HD-DVD. I personally prefer Attenburoughs narration and the uninterrupted 50 minute episodes - Weaver's isn't as smooth and sometimes sounds like reading a script (I know she is, but it not supposed to sound like it). However, I don't think the Discovery version is as horrible as some people say and at this price it's a good buy. Hasn't the BBC Blu been down around $35 a time or two though?

Yes, I got mine via Amazon UK for ~ 32 shipped. That being said, if you have a nice TV setup this is a must have movie regardless who narrates it. The pictures are stunning.
