You can use the new lithium ion batteries with the old tools. That is one of Dewalt's marketing. Saw an ad at HD about this when searching for this combo. Reviews at Amazon talk about a lot longer run time but tools hang over alittle bit.

new batts go into the old tools.. They fit better than the old batteries.

I want to start off and thank the original poster of the Home Depot Dewalt deal. I have been on a quest for this- and have had no luck. I stumbled on to the beginning of the markdowns in Oakland County Michigan Lowes stores today. I was quite pleased and am hoping to hook up a few SDers as well. I'm a girl so this will be wordy- bear with me.

Shelf tag for the Drill Saw combo is 270966. This is for the compact drill and reciprocating saw. Price on shelf in Southfield MI was 186(they had none in stock), shelf tag in Bloomfield MI was 149. I had this handy screen capture and walked with both sets from Bloomfield for 188.68. Link Below.

The guy at the store said he just marked these down today from $159 to $99. I grabbed two of these up as well. As I didn't want to miss out on the drill if I couldn't pull off the combo deal at the other store.

I started at the Southfield store- they had none of the combos- so I grabbed up two of the drills only- used lowes 10% off coupon and walked with 2 drills for 188.89. They told me that the store in Bloomfield store had 3 of the combo sets(1 display) and that "If we had them here we would match your print out" So I drove up there.

Found two sets on the shelf and they were marker 149 each (as opposed to 186 at previous store) Store manager saw my screen capture and said "Wow.. thats a great deal" Give them to her.

I asked for the 10% and he said, "No Way." I said- "Ummm...Yes Way.... isn't it your POLICY that if the price is lower at home depot to MATCH and give 10% more...? also.. I happen to have this 10% off coupon...." He said to the Girl, "She's right- Give it to her" I shut my mouth signed the CC pad and walked. Walked with two combo sets for 188.68.

The makita drill I got last week is going back- it weighs 2 pounds less... but for half the price I get a drill and a saw.
