Sony Blu Ray Player BDP-N460 [newegg.com]

I had my eye on this player for a few months as it had a boatload of online features built-in, including netflix, amazon on-demand, slacker, youtube etc. However I did not want to shell out $200-250...I'd rather get another ps3 for a little bit more money.

In any case, I just saw this price drop on newegg and since it was better than any deal posted on slickdeals (for the player by itself) I had to get it.

The next lowest price on google products is $184.99 and the player got very good reviews on Amazon:

To connect this player to your existing wireless network by pairing the optional Linksys Wireless Ethernet Bridge (WET-610N) to connect to your home router (each sold separately). So unless you are running ethernet cable to this from your existing router you will need to set up a wireless bridge to use Netfix/Amazon. I didn't know this when I bought my netflix ready blueray player. Some do come ready out the box for wireless but they have a higher price tag.

The roku box which is being planned to be offered for free soon will hook up wireless out of the box and hase the same functionality.

Rather than purchasing the 2 ethernet bridges to get network support, you could use any number of inexpensive routers, and configure them with a different firmware and install as a bridge.

No backlit remote. Boo. Get the one at Costo or BJ's instead.

The one linked here does not compare to the n460 in terms of features. Rather have netflix and a few other things then a backlit remote.

Are there cheap ones you can buy under $30 each? I havent been able to locate any that are cheap and have decent reviews. This is exactly what I would prefer to do. The cost I have found always seemed to get close to just buying the bluray player that already has wireless built in. But your suggestion provides more flexibility. This would also let me set up to N over G as well.

It has a USB port but only to play DVD "extras". You cannot use it to play other content.

this blu ray player will not play some dvds produced b Lionsgate... it freezes up and distorts... even when external memory is added.. otherwise the netflix and other video streaming is suprisingly smooth and well set up. Overall I love this blu ray player and it's a great deal considering what I paid. Buy it now!
