Question RE credit card account closing due to security and FICO scores...
I've had a few CC accounts closed over the years for security reasons (e.g. the # was compromised). Usually this is pretty transparent - I'll get a call saying that the card was compromised, and they will usually close that account, open a new one (with a new #) and send me new cards.
My question is - how does this affect your credit history? If, say, I have a card that I've had for awhile (say it's my first CC), and it's closed for this reason, is my credit history with them automatically shortened because the first account was closed, even though it wasn't MY doing? I wonder about the affect this has on credit history and scoring.
