SSDs sorted by price, second page, shows the 64GB with kit and bare drive. Seems to both a desktop and laptop version of the kit.

Agreed. SSDs are made from flash memory. Just about everything else in the world today uses flash memory too (phones, MP3 players, thumb drives, etc). There is only so much supply and there is a lot of demand. Compounding the situation is that it takes many weeks to produce semiconductors like CPUs and memory, unlike mechanical hard disks. So you if you miss-estimate demand you could be left with a glut of expensive-to-produce memory, or you can be stuck with no inventory and a screaming hot market and no near-term prospect for filling the demand.

On top of that, SSDs use the fastest flash that you can get, making them even more expensive. Track the costs of an SSD versus any other flash device of the same capacity, and you'll see that the prices aren't that far off.

Just because you don't want to pay more than a 50% markup doesn't mean that is the correct price. That's just your uneducated opinion.

We seem to be in agreement rather often. He is an idiot. By his logic, Nascar vehicles should only be 1.5x the cost of their street-legal variants.

anyone know if this would be a good ssd for a i7 p55 mobo new build? i am looking at using a ssd for my boot drive. i like the price but dont want to sacrifice a few bucks vs an OCZ Agility Series OCZSSD2-1AGT60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
