Circuit City has the 50 pack of Sony 8X DVD-R's on sale this week for $14.99, instore only. Strange the +R's are not on sale this week as both have had the sale price for the previous 2 weeks. Sony has recently began using Taiyo Yuden (TYG02's) in their -R 50 packs with Made in Japan on the label. Previously, the 8X -R MIJ 50 packs were only Sony's own media (SONY08D1's), which is also very good media (but not TY quality IMO). To identify the TY Made in Japan 50 packs, look for an octagonal shaped spacer on top of the 50 pack. The round spacer is Sony's media. I found some at Walmart, got the PM and they were TY's. PM at Staples for 110% difference and they are $13.50. Best Buy, CompUSA, and Sears also carry the 50 packs. If you want the Taiyo Yudens, remember to look for the -R MIJ 8X 50 packs and the octagonal spacer.

Update: The DVD+R's are also on sale now for $14.99. Any 50 pack with Made in Japan on the label will be TY's. It does not matter if there is a octagonal spacer or a round spacer with the +R's. Staples always seems to have some of the MIJ +R 50 packs on the shelves if you want to PM for $13.50
