A higher speed card is recommended for digital video capturing... something your S3 can do.
I'm in the same boat, just bought a canon sd550 and they take up to a 2gb SD card... and this is a great price for one. But my research has shown that for smooth vid capture, a higher speed card is needed ![]() Please someone correct me if I'm wrong! |

Great camera! Speed of this card not listed
[QUOTE=dealmonkey;4060718]Im about to by a Canon S3-IS digicam. Would this card be adequate, or do I need a high speed card?[/QUOTEI couldn't find any info at buy.com abvout the speed of this card, i think it's the slower version. I use my canon s3 to shoot a lot of video so i spent just a few bucks more for the 150X SD card and 2GB takes just a couple of minutes to download. I would spend the extra bucks on a fast card but if you aren't going to use the camera that much you will be fine with this card. You are going to absolutely love this camera the IS at full optical zoom (12x) works like a charm and the movie mode is excellent. Records in stereo sound, you can put the camera on a table with the lens cap on and record hours of audio only without anyone knowing and the audio quality is unbelieveable. I paid ~$24 AR for a 2GB 150X card just a couple of weeks ago. |

Good price on the card but previous posters are right, if you want the best performance or want to do video capture with the latest generation or two of digital cameras, you're better off with a higher-speed card. I just got a Transcend 2 GB card at NewEgg.com that is 150X speed, the fastest available. It's a very high quality card from a good brand---incredible speed at a good price, with good reviews all around.
