FIRST OFF, most of the rebates come from the Manufacturer. D-Link, Creative, Tivo, Verbatim, Trendnet, K-World, TDK, on & on..... so how do you think this is "BUY.COM's" fault?

I can't tell you how many times I hear people bitching about a rebate that they made a mistake on and then blame the store!! Rebates are a freaking process! I sit down and make a check list right on the form of each task I have to do or thing I need to include before I send it. I read EVERY WORD of the Fine Print They will use ANY REASON to try and invalidate your rebate! It doesn't mean you can't still fight if you do F ' UP but know this, the MANUFACTURING CORPORATION'S that put out the rebates (NOT BUY.COM) want you to look at it and decide that it isn't worth filling out!
But guess what, it's the fools that don't fill it out that give the rest of us such great deals. Without a certain amount of un-fullfillment and invalidation then rebates aren't as good $$ or don't come as often. So you need to make sure you did EVERYTHING CORRECT!

Secondly, when it says 8-12 weeks count on it taking THREE FREAKING MONTHS or 12 weeks approximately. Yes if you do rebates long enough you find your favorites. I have gotten Symantec Norton rebates back in TOTAL Time of 21 days via Snail mail! Some people like ONRebate because if you bribe them with 10% of the rebate they will pay it in about 10days otherwise its closer to 5 months. Until someone takes them to court and get a judgement and some fines leveed' against them for not honoring the time aspect of the rebate CONTRACT!

There are enough correctly completed and filed out rebates/forms that get flagged for illegitimate reasons (ie. just to see if they can get someone to give up without a fight) or other FRUCKing rebate PROBLEMS out there like the Abortion that is ONREBATE or the holy grail of bad rebate places www rebateshq com they send out denials like they were candy canes on a tree. So don't blame Buy.com for something...that isn't Buy.com's responsibility or fault! I have, in more than 50 Buy.com purchases and rebate submissions NEVER NOT GOTTEN MY REBATE! AND the rebate clearing houses never sent a letter back that says, oh sorry you bought it from Buy.com so we can't honor your rebate!
BUY.COM didn't make the rebate take 3 months to process (again that is the manufacturer's rebate processing or the REBATE CLEARINGHOUSE (onrebate/rebatehq or any number of the other ones that seem to be honest), BUY.COM didn't tell the company who you did the rebate with not to process it! THINK ABOUT IT SMART GUYS, BUY.COM ISN'T THE ONE THAT PAYS YOU THE REBATE!!!!! However $#ITTY companies like OnREBATE and Rebate HQ (DO HAVE AN INCENTIVE FOR DENYING YOUR REBATE) THEY GET PAID TO PROCESS THE REBATE BUT THEY ALSO DO BETTER FINANCIALLY WHEN THEY DON"T HAVE TO PAY OUT A REBATE. ITS LIKE DOUBLE DIPPING FOR THEM!!!

So stop biotching about the store and call, write, email the company that you have the rebate with. I am so FED UP with www rebateshq com that every time I get a card I call them that day. So I pull up the file, I re-read everthing which I did thoroughly when I submitted it to make sure there were no errors. I have been told everything from wrong address to wrong store, COMPUSA.com is not valid for a rebate for COMPUSA???? WTF?, no UPC, no competitors product (ALL BS).
I bought a mini tape recorder over a year ago and a cheap telephone splitter to plug into it ($30 total from Radio Shack) & I get everything they say ON TAPE! I Do my best to communicate my problem (via the language barrier) and if they won't correct what ever BULL$#IT thing they say I did incorrectly, then I explain to them that I have copies of all submitted materials (via computer scanner) and that I have taped this conversation. I tell them if they won't fix it here and now that the next call I make is to the company that highered them.
[So for example everytime I have done a Webroot (Spysweeper others) or IOLA (System Mechanic others) rebate I get a denial card from SATIN's rebate service www rebateshq com. Last time after they wouldn't correct it over the phone I found Webroot's and later IOLA's corporate telephone numbers and called them. Explained that most people don't seperate the rebate clearing houses (in this case you two smart guy's are still blaming the STORE ) from the product manufacturer. I said I know it was rebateshq that is denying me but asked them if most people wouldn't think they had been denied by WEBROOT. I gave them my information and rebate numbers and the rejection information. I said that rebateshq is making your product look bad! Similiar conversation with IOLA corporate.
I had both checks within a week. I don't know whether rebatehq relented or whether WEBROOT & IOLA put pressure on them. But I had my rebates FAST! Actually a lot sooner than "normal".


BE SPECIFIC IN YOUR COMPLAINT'S YOU TWO, when you say "Buy.com" is the problem...otherwise Bill O' Ral-le is going to send FOX police/security to your house and getcha'!
Seriously though, it does no good to erroneously blame Buy.com for the rebate problem.
Why don't you share the rebate information. Hell, I'll find you the numbers of the right people to call and make calls on your behalf to get you your money! BUT BE SPECIFIC! ABOUT THE PRODUCT AND REBATE COMPANY if not the manufacturer.

What product was it for?
Give promotional or rebate number?
Give the address of the company that you sent it to?
Give the web address of the rebate processing site or where it says you can check it?
Give the telephone number?
Did you get a denial card, letter, or email?
Is it still processing?
What exactly is the problem you are having?

If all you say is BUY.COM is Worse than TIGER DIRECT you sound ignorant. Because first of all BUY.COM doesn't issue any rebates themselves? Tiger Direct did, however now they use ONREBATE so again if it takes you 5 months to get your $$ then you should bitch to tiger direct and/or the manufacturer. BUT AT LEAST ON REBATE PAYS THE REBATE EVENTUALLY! Or if you fall for their Bribe you can pay 10% of the rebate and get it in 10 days or less!

poor OP.. looks like your thread is being hijacked into a podium discussion of buy.com as a company and the quality of its rebates... instead of sticking to simply working on a method to keep track of those buy.com rebates..
