Most Democrats and Independents Give Michael Moore’s Movie Good Marks
"Fahrenheit 911": Most Democrats and Independents Give Michael Moore’s Movie Good Marks and Think It Treats President FairlyMichael Moore’s movie, Fahrenheit 911, seems to be adding to the political polarization in this already highly polarized election year. It may also be having some political impact. These are some of the conclusions to be drawn from a new Harris Poll, conducted online with 2,242 adults between July 12 and 16, 2004. Many more Democrats (17%) than Republicans (7%) have seen the movie. And many more Democrats (30%) than Republicans (10%) think it very likely that they will see it. When they see it their reactions are very different. Democrats overwhelmingly (89%) give it positive ratings; most Republicans (56%) give it negative ratings. Almost all Democrats (85%) think it treats President Bush fairly; most Republicans (58%) think it treats him unfairly. The political impact? In terms of its possible impact on November’s election, the most interesting results are the replies given by independents. In most recent presidential elections, the candidate who received the most independent votes won. The bad news for the White House in this survey is that independent voters are behaving more like Democrats than Republicans. They are as likely as Democrats to have seen "Fahrenheit 911" (18% compared to 17%) and are much likely than Republicans to expect to see it (20% compared to 10%). And when independent voters see the movie they mostly give it good marks (70% positive) and think it is fair (56%). Also bad news for the president is that significant minorities of Republican viewers of the movie give it positive ratings (44%) and think it treats the president fairly (30%). The best news for the White House may be that, notwithstanding its box office success, most voters (and almost all Republicans) will not see the film. Fahrenheit 911 [about.com] |

I have seen it, I am a Democrat, and it IN NO WAY treats the President fairly. It is an unmitigated slam on him, his ethics, his intelligence, his record... I enjoyed it, because I hate Bush and it was satisfying to see someone tee off on him like Moore did. But don't even entertain the idea that it is fair.

I think the editing may have been unfair, inasmuch as it captured Bush in awkward moments, but were the underlying claims made by Moore to support his "slam on [Bush's] ethics, his intelligence, [and] his record" meritorious? |

I saw it.. It was entertaining.. More Power to Michael Moore if he can make money and put people in the seats- "give the people what they want"
Was it fair? Hell no, but when did that matter? I like and hate Michael Moore at the same time.. I respect his talents and think hes a piece of crap at the same time.. The whole Saudi / US gov't "connect the dots" game was retarded though and made no sense.. I don't regret seeing the movie as I enjoyed it, however I wish I had purchased tickets for another movie instead and then sat in Moore's flick without him getting credit for it... |

I think is treat Bush OK. But, Bush is not exactly a Boy scout or Jesus like some of our Republicans supporter state.
You know what the movie truely say. Stand Up and Express your Opinion. Let Us Hear your Voice. This Michael Moore view and voice about Bush. For those who think it treated Bush unfairly. Bush has been notorious to treat his adversery worst than Michael Moore. Currently: John Kerry and John Kerry. Bush done worst to his own Republican people, John McCain and many others. Look at Howard Stern, he suported Bush and appluaded Bush on efforts on the War and 9/11. Suddenly Bush, turn his back on Stern. Who know what other horrendous thing Bush and his Mafiaoso has done to anyone who stand in Bush way? I guarantee it will be stuff our Grand children will be ashamed off. Stuff that Freedom of Information Act will give traces off. Last edited by vodreaux; 09-23-2004 at 08:41 PM.. |

I don't understand why people support this movie or Moore for that matter. Moore's views (in general) are detestible and unAmerican. Ranking the Iraquis up there with Hitler!?
Some freedom fighter Moore is. HIS true colors have always been known. The Dems didn't want to associate with him during the DNC....but now they are speaking out for him.....they must be in desperate times to be using Moore as a helping hand. |
