Instructional thread!

Schooby 4,151 March 25, 2007 at 06:23 PM
It's been brought to my attention that it would be helpful (and yet I'll do this anyway) for people to be instructed on the uses of:

Ignore thread
Ignore user
Personal stickies
PM only from buddy list

Let's take these one at a time shall we?

Ignore thread is a wonderful option where you can click either on the button at the end of the title in the forum page of in the quick link once inside of offending thread. Those who dislike the "quiz" threads for example could easily avoid seeing them by using this option.

Ignore user
is very nice if you have someone who is bothering you or you'd just like to not have to even bother rolling your eyes at. Click on their name and in their personal profile is a link to chose to ignore them. I'm sure there are other ways to do this also, but this is how I have applied the feature.
*Also, If you have a user on ignore, then you won't see their threads in the normal forum view. You'll only see them on the main forums page, where it shows that there's a new post in that thread.
*thank you WentAway*

Personal stickies are also in the quick thread links inside the thread. It's very handy if you wish to keep track of a specific thread. This helps to avoid repeated bumping of threads.

PM only from buddy list
is a wonderful new feature. You can make certain people your buddy and then chose the option in your User CP options settings to only receive PMs from them. Thus, you can still keep in contact with them and not have to receive them from anyone else...except MODS of course.

Thank you. This ends our public service announcement!

How very instructicational of you!

I might add that the combined use of these features might turn the Lounge into the Eden of Interweb that you always hoped it would be.

Reps to you!

I know that some are hoping for a combined feature for ignore all threads from certain members but we'll have to wait for that one.

If you have a user on ignore, then you won't see their threads in the normal forum view. You'll only see them on the main forums page, where it shows that there's a new post in that thread.

BTW - Some people think it's incredibly rude to use the ignore list.

I wonder if Loungers know that although one can not ignore one's self completely, one can ignore one's own threads. This might come in handy for Loungers who create a regrettable thread and no longer wish to acknowledge its existence.

And some people think it's annoying to start a few fun threads in a short period of time. The ignore feature helps avoid fighting hug
