THE VOSTRO 1400 IS NOW $599, you must use the link provided above, as the one on Dell.com gives you a $549 with much lower end parts. To change your order, do not call to change, but instead call and ask for the order to be canceled. 1-800-757-8434 - that is the Dell Small Business number. Tell the operator that you wish to cancel the order. After canceling the order, use the link above to place a new one. [MAKE SURE that the deal is still with the original specs and the right price before you cancel, as the deal might change (and you don't want to cancel an order only to be left with a worse one)]. --- Do not ask them to change the order for you... as I got directed over 10 times (about 3 of them due to mistakes, such as directing me to home/home office instead of small business. And even worse.. in the end, they just canceled my order and placed a new one (instead of just discounting it). Don't waste your time (like me) by getting redirected, placed on hold, listening to music, etc... ((Thanks Runic Mafia))

For those not sure what's a vostro, go to www.notebookreview.com and type in VOSTRO on the search bar.
Apparently it is Dell's new low end business line that is an Inspiron painted black to be released 7/10 (today) I don't think I'm allowed to link other forum threads, but I use notebookreview for most of my laptop needs. |

this deal is lukewarm compared to the earlier 1420 deal
- only vista basic (upgrade to business/prem is $99) - 2x512mb ram (harder to upgrade) 1420 had 2gb for free - 120gb 5400rpm... 1420 had 160gb 7200rpm for free - no express card remote, $60-80 value - $30 for creative earbuds, 1420 had em for free with the webcam id say thats about $300-350 of value lost |
