You can add 2GB of RAM for about ~50-60 after rebates.

The vostro seems to dominate this laptop. Why is this such a good deal? just because thinkpads are tried and true?

So while I'm also wary of a laptop that does not come with a DVDRW, I also realize that I personally don't really need it...

I do all my DVD burning on my desktop at home.

When you configure it to be as close as possible to the Vostro (1.6 C2D, 1GB DDR2, 120GB HDD, 8X DVD Burner) it comes to around $612 before tax and shipping. Not sure how much those are.

However, the big difference is with the Vostro you get the 128MB 8400M GS graphics card. With the Lenovo, you just get Intel graphics.
