Okay every time i plug my Memorex 128 meg usb jump drive key into my computer the computer restarts. I tried it in another computer with the same results. I booteed up the comp and it detects it so i clicked on the safely remove hardware box and then put it back in and the computer still restarts. I never had problems with it before.

Sounds like a USB-reated blue screen.

Which OS? If XP - do this, press "Winkey + Pause" or navigate to Start->Control Panel->System or gith click on "My Computer" and select "Properties" from the context menu. Then click on "Advanced" tab, under "Startup and Recovery" module click on "Settings" and in the window that opens uncheck "Automatically restart". What this will do, is when a critical error (resulting in blue screen) occurs, you will see some information you can provide so we can help you more.

Another potential issue may be power issue, but first try the above.

but when i unchecked the box it did not go to the blue screen the first time but the second???

page_fault is very likely a RAM error. do you overlock? get this program : www.memtest86.com and make a bootable floppy/CD and run it (preferably overnight). See if your RAM exhibits any failures in the morning, and if so - it's time to replace it.

It may be that it's not the USB drive you have to blame.

Also, if you are overclocking - set the machine to stock levels.

Again, power is still a potential problem, but let's see if the memory is bad first.

and no niether me or my dad's comp is overclocked

Ok, what are the specs of the machine(s) you are experiencing the bsod at? I am most interest in OS with service pack information, motherboard/CPU info and power supply information. Also, which USB ports are you plugging the drive into, and how many other usb devices are currently attached to either of those?

Have you tried memtest86 from above yet? It's a good thing to do it, RAM is a very likely cause of such page_fault_in_non_paged_area errors.

OS XP pro sp1
plugging into front of case (also it crashes when i plug into the back)
I have my mouse, keyboard, and gamepad plugged in. i have 6 USB ports

the powersupply is i think a 260 watt not sure what brand

also the first time i plug it in it works fine but if i pull it out and put it back in it crashes.

There is always potential for power issues. Have yout ried running memtest86 yet ?

put sp2 in. give that a whirl.

I ran Memtest86 and it did not find any errors

well he used the usb drive in two diff comps with the same results... almost the same thing, would be bizarre if both systems had the same problem with the usb not being faulty.
