I have this cable, and it's excellent. I personally cannot tell the difference between this cable and my friend's full-price official nintendo cable.
If you have a red, green and blue input all right next to each other on your television, with another red and a white off to the side, you can display component signals. If you can, get this cable! |

saw this on FW this morning and ordered. Not bad for $7 shipped! I hope I have another component slot for this one on my TV. I have an xbox 360, xbox, and wii. The back of the TV is getting kinda ridiculous

Component cable will handle max 720p, but can the wii output 720p, I know on xbox you have to enable it and then it would work.
Does the cable have a digital audio out? If not I would wait or maybe the wii can not support this or it needs to be added as a mod. It wasnt until years later that the xbox1 finally had a hdtv component cable with digital audio. I modded my xbox1 years ago and just recently added the component cable because they are like $10 and then added my own spdif connector for digital audio out. I use it as my media player and it works great. Picked up a spdif to tos converter at Frys for 17 for opto in on my surround sound. |

Component cables can display any HD resolution, including 1080P. The component signal is somewhat comparable to a VGA signal, although they split the signal different ways.
That said, the wii's max resolution is 480P. Also note that if you do not have an EDTV or HDTV set capable of 480P, you will not see the improvement given in the pictures. When I ran component cables to a standard TV, I saw better color, but the detail was the same. So, to sum up, to use the cables, you need component connectors on your TV. To get 480P (and the better quality shown in the linked pictures) you need a EDTV or an HDTV. Your normal set won't do it. |
