I went ahead and configured another one exactly the same and used the coupon and it worked. Can I call HP and still receive the discount? I haven't even received my laptop yet. It is due to be shipped on September 11.

Yes. HP has a Price Guaranty for 30 days. More over you can cancel it any time before delivery with out hassle. They may offer you discount when you are trying too cancel.

But it works. I had got a refund of $290 with in 30 days.
