I wonder what kind of batteries this takes. It says not included but doesn't say what kind it takes. There is another similar power screwdriver that comes with bits and specifies that it includes the battery and charger. Do you think this one actually has the battery and the site is just wrong?

I just ordered my second Craftsman 4.8 volt Impact Power Driver. This is to be a holiday gift for my son - - as I am so pleased with the one I purchased for my own use.

This is, essentially, a heavy duty rechargeable screwdriver with enough power to double as a rechargeable drill.

The added feature is that if the driver meets resistance, instead of either stopping (locking up) or stripping out of the screw head - - a spring device (internal) loads up power and then releases it to impact the stuck screw, nut or drill bit.

This is like the pneumatic lug nut wrenches used by mechanics or impact hammers used in construction.

The handle is most comfortable and the entire unit pivots at the center to allow for different angles of approach. Although a bit on the heavy side, the driver is not tiring to use.

Quick connect bit tip holder allows for simple set up. The unit comes with three drill bits and five screwdriver bits (information on the Sears website about bits was not correct). 175 in. lbs of torque. 1,800 rpm speed are specs provided by Sears.

Unit comes complete with charging unit - - however, does not come with storage case or bit container. I decided to buy a plastic under seat tool box to serve this purpose.

Lists at $ 49.99 but has been on sale for most of the past two months at prices around $30.00 with free shipping if ordered on line.

I have been using this tool for just about a month and it continues to amaze me. Makes simple work of stuck screws, etc. Certainly, a tool you should consider.

i can see this thing stripping a lot of screws, good price but might wind up costing you in the end

If you set the stop correctly and make a good connection you will not strip screws. It acts like a toque wrench. After it gets to a certain resistance it stops turning.
