A lot of deals have information that is much better represented when viewed in one post rather than a bunch. Say, if there's an item on clearance, and I just found one at the northwest chicago store, and there are more on the shelf, I would post about it to help other people who might want to get in on the deal who live in my area too. If a bunch of people post about store availability, it becomes cumbersome to search through the topic to find your city, but if it's neatly represented in a wiki post, anyone can add to a master list, or update if status changes (say if I just came back from the northwest chicago store after buying the last in stock).
