The do not call list doesn't mean that the people on the list can't be called. The rules, as they pertain to the Do Not Call registry say when you can and cannot call people. There ARE certain times of the day you can call people.

As far as my experience goes, I've been a Wells Fargo customer since I was an employee in 1995 and I think the service is good (I only worked there for one year). I really like their ATM service and their online service which is very very good, especially compared with Bank of America which has by far, the WORST online interface I've ever used. It is probably one of the worst online interfaces in the history of modern online banking, btw - there's still no way to easily log off after you successfully complete a "Bill Pay" transaction.

Rule of thumb to the clueless person(s) running the Bank of America website: You should ALWAYS offer the option of "Logging Out" on each page. I should not have to hit the back button multiple times so that I can "Log out", that is so ghetto. Wells Fargo ALWAYS offers a "Log Out" button and Chase Bank also offers a "Log Out" button on each page that you navigate.

Sorry for digressing, getting back to Wells Fargo: they have always been at the forefront of technology and starting with their webpage, they have innovated things like an organizer which keeps track of your expenditures and puts them in categories so you can see where and what you are spending your money on. B of A just initiated something like this on their webpage today (or perhaps yesterday) as I just saw it for the first time when I logged on. Wells was also the very first bank to offer full online banking services and Bill Pay. That bodes well in my opinion.

As far as going inside the Wells Fargo branches goes I avoid it like the plague. I hate going inside the branch because the teeny boppers that are working always manage to shut down their window and go to break/lunch just as I'm coming to the front of the line. Thank god their atm's work so well.

Incidentally I don't know much about other ATM's but Wells Fargo's new ATM's are killer. They offer deposits of checks and cash with no envelope required. You just feed the machine and it adds everything up for you. You confirm it and then you get credited the next business day for the full funds. Now that's fast and excellent service! Previously, it would take up to two business days for checks to clear. They just keep getting better and better.

As far as banking services go in Toledo or wherever you are from, maybe the local service is better over there. I can only speak for the San Francisco Bay Area where Wells Fargo is based. Most of Wells' branches and atm's are located on the west coast.

Also, as far as negative reviews go, banking is retail and when it comes to retail every retailer has their horror stories. Having worked in retail for 13+ years I have the understanding that often these people are put in circumstances where they have terrible bosses and this often comes out in the delivery of customer service. When you have a situation where the employees feel respected and appreciated and are given all the tools and training they need to do their job right, it is rare for customer service to go bad. Unfortunately it is rare that employees are treated the way they deserve to be treated.
