Polks are a ton of bang for your buck! This is a great deal on the RTi10s! They are serious speakers!

my buddy got these for 400 for the pair from fry's (black finish) w/ a free polk sub that he is going to sell on ebay for around 140, so he got the pair for around 290 after tax, that is very slick.

Going from the RTi8 to the RTi10, you lose a 6 1/2" mid/woofer and add two 7" woofers. I think it's well worth the price difference.

A basic recommendation for ordering any speakers from Fry's is to make a separate order for each speaker. For me the shipping on one speaker would be $17, but for two speakers it jumps up to $107! I would save $73 in shipping by making two separate orders of one speaker each.

BTW, my brother ordered these yesterday, they shipped today, and they're supposed to arrive tomorrow. Talk about fast shipping!

Yes, there is a world of difference as far as driving these speakers. I own the RTi10's and drive them with a 50lb. Denon 4802R receiver (huge toroidal transformer and heat sinks). My old Denon 3805 38lb receiver didn't have the guts to push them in my large family room along with a Polk CSi5 center and FXi3 surrounds.

Stepping up to the RTi10 or RTi12, I highly recommend you add a separate two channel amplifier to your existing receiver to get the most out of these speakers (unless of course you have a flagship receiver). 89dB is not very efficient as far as tower speakers go. You won't realize what these speakers can do running your basic $500 surround sound receiver. The RTi8's would be fine with a modest mid-level surround receiver. Just don't skimp on power when driving RTi series speakers. You get what you pay for in audio, and with class A/B amps, the heavier the better. And I'm sure I don't have to tell you - 100 watts is not 100 watts. Ask and I can explain.

I can only assume its alot.. then you need a huge @ss amp to power these..
